Methodology

How does Imaginationgym work?

Our Methodology is based on imagination, whole brain integration and room space enhancement. These elements combine to help create personal profiles for residents based on responses to colour, nature, lighting, heating, space, aroma, music, and light-touch therapy. Social interaction and connection are also incorporated.

The ImaginationGYM Space

creating an environment of wellbeing

Creating an environment to enhance mental and emotional wellbeing is a cornerstone of the ImaginationGYM programme. Our methodology incorporates relaxation techniques with optimisaton of the room space available. Small and manageable changes can be made to a room space to enhance the environment.

How ImaginationGYM Works

Implementing the methodology: simple effective relaxing solutions

If you do not have a designated quiet space the sessions can still be run in a residents room by making the space more relaxing with lighting and aroma.
There can also be a management discussion about creating a designated room space.

A personalised profile for each resident is noting what parts of the sessions they enjoy most and then making that more personalised with each session. This can be noting their preferences to lighting, space, music, colour an also the group interactions that are beneficial.

The routine of the sessions is important and feedback shows that the same day, same time , same room and same residents greatly assists with the benefits and responses. This is of particular importance with people who have Dementia.

This can be done in a simple way by using fresh flowers (wild or bought) or a plant or leaves. This brings in a real nature feeling for the residents.

We encourage running the sessions with a family member in a residents room as this can be of assistance with residents with Dementia

We suggest that you can do one session a week at the same time with the same person or group and then if time allows to add in more sessions.

There will always be some background noise when trying to create the room space and the training covers how to help other staff understand and support the sessions and help with the noise levels.

Yes we offer a lot of suggestions if you are creating a specifically designed calm quiet room space using colour, lighting, aroma and space optimisation.
